Songjiang Tram, as an important part of the “Four Network Combination” in Songjiang District, started the operation of “First Line” since the end of 2018, has received extensive attention from Songjiang citizens. Till now, Songjiang Tram Phase I has been running safely for more than 140 days, and the average daily passenger flow is about 11,000 person-time, even breaks through 20,000 person-time on peak day. Songjiang Tram has become new way for citizens of Songjiang to travel.
Songjiang Tram Phase II plans to start trial run without passengers in May.29, according to Shanghai local standard of basic conditions for the test run to tram. The trial run will be no less than 45 days, and after such operation without passengers, there will be an evaluation by experts in the middle of July. The tram line is expected for operation officially at end August, when achieving all the requirements based on opening permission. Then there will be two lines in the whole tram network, including Line 1 from Canghua Road (Rongle Road) to Xinmiaosan Road (Minyi Road) with two-way running, and Line 2 which is a ring line through Rongle Road, Jinxi Road, Zhongchuang Road, Guangfulin Road, Xinsongjiang Road, Sanxin Road in a closed loop with two-way circulation running. And Tram Line 1 can be transferred to Metro Line 9 at the station of Songjiang Sports Center, while Tram Line 2 can be transferred to Metro Line 9 at the station of Songjiang Sports Center and also Songjiang University Town.
It’s around 12.8km trial operation of Shanghai Songjiang Tram Phase II Project, with following 20 stations in sequence from west to east: North Sanxin Road, Canghui Road, Yushu Road, Rongle Road North Xilin Road, North Renmin Road, Songjiang Sports Center, North Guyang Road, Rongle Road Tongbotang Road, North Fangta Road, Songdong Road, Songwei Highway, Baosheng Road, Dongxing Road, Lianyang Road, Jinxi Road, East Jiangtian Road, Mingnan Road, Xutang Road, Caonong Road, Xinmiaosan Road. During such trial run, the new section will not carry passengers, the facilities and equipment will not be open to public.To meet the relevant requirements of trail running without passengers to Phase II, some trams in operation currently will change to the circle line 2, meaning no stop at the stations of Canghua Road and Zhongchen Road, which are the starting and destination for Tram Line 1 respectively, so some with the direction from Sixian Road to Canghua Road and the direction from Ronghui Road to Zhongchen Road will be cleared at the station of Sixian Road and Ronghui Road. All passengers then please follow the instructions from the working staff, wait for the next tram to the destination at the platform.The main purpose of the trial operation is to check and review through the comprehensive debugging of vehicles, communication signals, power supply, ticketing and other systems, for further safeguard to personnel and equipment. Meanwhile, to improve the driving quality and the stability of facilities, according to the service requirements of the official operation in the coming future.
The Phase III section from Xinmiaosan Road station to Xinqiao Railway station is expected to be ready for trial operation at the end of December. At that time, Tram Line 1 will be adjusted, from Canghua Road (Rongle Road) to Xinqiao Railway Station with two-way running.Songjiang Tram Phase II will connect with current network of Phase I. Tram Line 1 combines the old city and industrial zone in east-west run, while Tram Line 2 forms three major business circle, and the tram line can transfer to Metro Line 9 via stations of Songjiang University Town and Songjiang Sports Center, which will greatly facilitate the public transportation in Songjiang area, and ease traffic pressure of the main passenger corridor.
